If you are attending the IEEE International Conference on Emerging Technologies and Factory Automation (ETFA20) either online or on-site, and have an interest in automatic scheduling, then consider listening to a narrated presentation of my most recent work (teaser in video). We present a scheduling approach particularly suitable for industries where activities do not only require a certain machine to be processed, but the activities also need to be conducted at predetermined locations. Some examples are mining, forestry and logistics.
Btw, the previous work that we are generalizing from has recently been published in the journal Computers & Operations Research. In that work, we’re studying underground mine scheduling in particular. Go have a look: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0305054820301532
